Welcome to Nagomi no Zen ₋ where tea and Zen meet

We are Masami and Jeanette, a husband-and-wife team behind Nagomi no Zen, a name that reflects our vision of harmony inspired by Zen.

Our journey began with a shared appreciation for the quiet beauty of Japanese tea and the philosophy that surrounds it.

Masami was born and raised in Fukuoka in southern Japan, a region renowned for its rich tea heritage. Growing up, the comforting aroma of freshly brewed green tea was always part of daily life. Today, he continues to value the principles of Zen Buddhism in his daily life, seeking simplicity, awareness, and presence in everyday moments.

Jeanette, who is Danish, was equally drawn to the calming character of Japanese tea and the quiet sense of connection with nature it brings.

Together, we created Nagomi no Zen to share more than just tea. The name expresses our belief that tea can bring moments of

harmony — a gentle reminder of the Zen spirit of being fully present in the here and now.

In the Zen tradition, tea and mindfulness have long been connected through the idea of “Cha-Zen Ichi-mi (茶禅一味)”, meaning that tea and Zen are one. Inspired by this philosophy, we not only offer carefully selected Japanese teas, but also host mindfulness workshops where people can experience moments of stillness through guided practices and tea tasting.

Through tea, we hope to offer a small pause in everyday life — a moment to slow down, reconnect with oneself, and experience the quiet harmony that emerges when we are truly present.

Welcome to Nagomi no Zen — may every cup bring a moment of calm and presence.
