Japanese Tea and Zen
Thank you for reading our very first newsletter. We are delighted to have you here.
As this is our first edition, we would like to take a moment to introduce ourselves and share the vision behind Nagomi no Zen.
Who is behind Nagomi no Zen?
We are Masami and Jeanette, the husband-and-wife team behind Nagomi no Zen — a name that reflects our vision of harmony inspired by Zen.
Our journey began with a shared appreciation for the quiet beauty of Japanese tea and zen, the philosophy that surrounds it.
Masami was born and raised in Fukuoka in southern Japan, a region with deep roots in Japanese tea culture. As a child, the aroma of freshly brewed green tea was a natural part of home and everyday life – from the first cup of the day in the morning.
This connection to tea and Japanese traditions continues to guide him today. Inspired by the values of Zen Buddhism, he strives to live with simplicity, presence, and an awareness of the beauty found in life’s small, everyday moments.
Jeanette, who is Danish, was early drawn to the calm and presence that Japanese tea can create. More than 20 years ago, she discovered tea as part of her journey back to peace and reflection after a severe concussion.
Since then, Japanese tea has been an important part of her everyday life – not merely as a drink, but as a small daily ritual that invites reflection and balance.
Together, we created Nagomi no Zen to share more than just tea.

We believe tea can offer something increasingly rare in modern life — a small pause. A moment to slow down, breathe deeply, and reconnect with ourselves.
Japanese Tea and Zen
In the Zen tradition, tea and mindfulness have long been connected through the idea of “Cha-Zen Ichi-mi (茶禅一味),” meaning that tea and Zen are one. Inspired by this philosophy, our vision is not only to offer carefully selected Japanese teas and matcha, but also to create experiences that invite people into moments of calm and presence.
Community-building
Going forward, we hope to build a community together with all of you through tea tastings, mindfulness gatherings, Zen-inspired breathing and meditation experiences, and shared conversations around living more consciously and peacefully in everyday life.
Whether through a cup of matcha, a quiet cup of sencha tea moment, or a shared experience with others, we hope Nagomi no Zen can become a gentle reminder to return to the present moment.
Thank you for your support
Thank you for being here at the beginning of this journey with us.
Welcome to Nagomi no Zen — may every cup bring a moment of calm, harmony, and presence.
Warm regards,
Masami & Jeanette
